During the 2008 holiday season, 'Ohana partnered with Kokua Kalihi Valley (KKV), a major charitable organization in the Kalihi Valley of O`ahu, to fill gift baskets that would be distributed to low-income seniors and disabled shut-ins living in the Kalihi Valley area.
The Kalihi Valley has a high concentration of poor and marginalized individuals, and has thus been a particular focus for 'Ohana Outreach efforts. Together with KKV, 'Ohana had the opportunity to provide gift baskets that contained necessities and surprises to more than a hundred shut-ins and more than three hundred healthier seniors during the 2008 holidays.
